According to a recent research study in Amerca, about 5 out of 10 in general wear braces. However, every 8 in 10 teenagers wear them. Or 80% of teenagers!

You already know from a previous post that Dr. Ward had braces when he was an adult.

SLU CADE ....or in other words....

Have you ever wondered what a dental school or, more specifically, an Orthodontic school, looks like? Wonder no more! Here are a couple of photos of SLU CADE, or in other words:

SAINT LOUIS UNVERSITY'S CENTER for ADVANCED DENTAL EDUCATION

This is where Dr. Ward received his specialized education and training to be an Orthodontist. After completing four years of dental school at the University of Oklahoma (OU), he completed an Orthodontic Residency in St. Louis, Missouri for 2 and 1/2 years.

This is looking down onto the treatment area. There were classrooms where lectures would take place, but the majority of time was spent treating patients - each student has their own chair and unit where they treat their patients.

Many of you have wondered why Dr. Ward is so understanding of your journey through braces....the excitement, the discomfort, the challenges of flossing, and that slimy feeling when you finally get them off. Well, it's because he's been there, done that! - and he feels your pain!
